STABLE Update – 11 Jul 25
Adrian Bott Reports on Our Girl 23rd April 2025

The excitement when this filly went through the ring was palpable. Bidding was intense, so we were absolutely thrilled to be the one’s with the knockout bid. It didn’t take very long for our clients to jump in and 40% was snapped up within hours.

At this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale we made it our goal to target quality, early running types with good pedigrees and this filly gets a massive tick in all 3 of those areas.

By the undisputed Champion, Snitzel, one of the most influential sires of our generation for speed and success, especially in his juveniles, this filly also boasts close lineage to one of Sout Africa’s best sprinting families.

She was a $550k purchase and there is no β€˜buyers regret” whatsoever. She looks the real deal. Physically she’s as perfect as you’d expect and mentally, she is a tough girl who wasn’t fazed by anything in what can by a harrowing assignment being at the sales complex for so long.

Gai and Adrian are experts in getting the best out of young horses. 8 Golden Slippers is testament to that and this filly will be part of their future “A Team”, no doubt.

Sire

Unfortunately we lost the great horse this year which makes a filly by him more sought after. Snitzel was world-class boasting a 10% Stakeswinners to runners strike rate, outstanding success as a sire of 58 stakes-winning juveniles and the robustness & versatility that puts his progeny in Australia’s best 2YO, 3YO, sprint & mile races.

That’s why Snitzel made a spectacular impact on Australian racing & breeding, setting new benchmarks of performance as an elite sire and a big-race stallion par excellence.

Two Golden Slippers, four Guineas, two Golden Roses, a pair of Everests, the Cox Plate, All Aged, Flight Stakes & Coolmore Stud Stakes, an Inglis Sires’ trifecta, two Magic Millions 2YO Classics and most of Australia’s big sprints all feature on Snitzel’s progeny record.

That record is headed by Champion 3YO Colt and now hot sire,TRAPEZE ARTIST, Champion Sprinter and dual Everest winner REDZEL, Champion 2YO ESTIJAB and 18 other Group 1 winners, including the brilliant 2024 Coolmore Stud S. G1 winner SWITZERLAND

Four General, four 2YO & two 3YO Sire Premierships, 27 Group 1 victories, 12 category Champions, 5 Inglis Easter Sale-toppers & 60 million-dollar yearlings are top-of-the-mountain achievements already on Snitzel’s record.

But with an average of 23 stakes wins every season since 2016/17 and 19 stakeswinners already from his latest 3 crops of racing age, there is no slowing down for Snitzel, with 11 stakeswinners including G1 winners LADY SHENANDOAH & SWITZERLAND in the first 4 months of 2024/25. Plus he has more than 300 sons & daughters bred on six-figure fees and yet to run from his 2022-2024 crops.

And just like his sire, the legendary Redoute’s Choice, Snitzel is rapidly creating his own legacy, through 16 stakes-siring sons (inc. 6 Group 1 sires), andΒ his broodmare daughters, already the source of 37 stakeswinners, including 2024 Group 1 winners PRIVATE LIFE, CAPTURED BY LOVE, CELESTIAL LEGEND, PINSTRIPED & VELOCIOUS Etc.

Dam | All That Jazz (SAF)

All That Jazz is the unraced daughter of one of South Africa’s best sprinters,Β VAL DE RA, a 3 x Gr.1 winner, a Gr.2 winner and twice successful in Listed company. She also won twice at 2 and is the dam of 3 to race for 2 winners, incl. Listed winner, Miss Frankel.Β

This filly is bred on the exact same cross as Gai and Adrian’s Gr.1 winning Stallion, IN THE CONGO

Trainer | Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott

At the helm of one of Australia’s most iconic racing operations, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have forged a formidable partnership that marries tradition with transformation. From the storied grounds of Tulloch Lodge, they have built a powerhouse stable that continues to set benchmarks in elite thoroughbred training, seamlessly blending Gai’s legendary status with Adrian’s contemporary edge.

Gai Waterhouse, affectionately known as the First Lady of Australian Racing, is a towering figure in the sport. As the daughter of the late, great T.J. Smith, she inherited not only a stable rich in history but also an uncompromising passion for excellence. Since officially taking the reins of Tulloch Lodge in 1992, Gai has carved out a legacy uniquely her own. Her achievements are extraordinary: over 150 Group 1 winners, a Melbourne Cup with Fiorente in 2013, six Golden Slipper triumphs, and victories in virtually every major Australian race, including the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate. Inducted into both the Australian and International Racing Halls of Fame, Gai is celebrated not just for her results but for her vibrant personality, meticulous preparation, and magnetic rapport with her horses. She remains one of racing’s most enduring ambassadorsβ€”both revered and widely loved.

In 2016, Adrian Bott joined Gai as co-trainer, marking the beginning of a new era at Tulloch Lodge. With a background steeped in bloodstock and management, Adrian brought a fresh perspective to the stable. His modern, data-informed approach to training and race planning added a new dimension to an already elite operation. Adrian quickly established himself as a trainer of substance and styleβ€”able to innovate while respecting the heritage of the stable. His influence has been pivotal in broadening Tulloch Lodge’s versatility, enabling the team to target a wider range of races across varied distances and jurisdictions. Beyond the track, Adrian plays a central role in strategic planning, owner relations, and syndication engagement, ensuring the business remains as commercially sharp as it is competitive.

Together, Gai and Adrian have crafted a training partnership that is the envy of owners and breeders across the country. Their shared vision emphasizes professionalism, transparency, and consistent performance, while their Randwick base and historic stables offer world-class infrastructure for conditioning both rising stars and proven champions. Their collaborative leadership has guided the careers of numerous Group-level performers, including Farnan, Converge, Alligator Blood, and Major Beel, solidifying their reputation as elite horse developers.

What sets the Waterhouse-Bott partnership apart is the synergy between two generations: Gai’s storied intuition and charisma, fused with Adrian’s precision and strategic insight. It’s a partnership that continues to shape the future of Australian racingβ€”honouring the past while boldly charting new ground.
