Latest Update

10th February 2025

WE’RE AIMING HIGH WITH OUR NEWEST TRIED HORSE PURCHASE, GOLD BULLION

Race This Stakes Winner With Bluebloods and Gai & Adrian.

Gold Bullion has arrived at Tulloch Lodge, Randwick to commence his first preparation for you with us. We’re looking forward to seeing your gelding again and we will be in touch weekly regarding his progress.

Gold Bullion, a $400k yearling and stunning specimen by Savabeel, is a 3 time winner – one of those at Listed level.

He was also first past the post in the Gr3 Frank Packer Plate however after a controversial protest was relegated to 2nd.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have trained him to date and will continue to train the 4yo gelding, who is just days away from resuming full work (10th Feb ‘ 25) with his first up return due on the 26th of April at Randwick.

He will then tackle The Coast, a $500k race at Gosford on the 10th May followed by a tilt at the LR Scone Cup – a qualifier for the $3mil “Big Dance” in Nov.

Gold Bullion is sound as a bell and still has massive upside, sp we doubt it will take long to make him look like a very cheap purchase!

Sire

SAVABEEL Nine-time Champion New Zealand Sire and producer of an incredible 35 Group 1 winners, Savabeel has made an unparalleled impact on racing in Australasia. There is little he hasn’t achieved as a stallion… from 2yo Classic winners to Derby winners and everything in between. He has also sired more than 100 Gr2, Gr3 and Listed winners, among them our boy, Gold Bullion, who bears a striking resemblance to his legendary Dad.

Dam

GOLD RUSH (NZ) So You Think mare, Gold Rush is a Gr.2 winning mare who won twice in her career. She hails from a quality Black Type family which has produced Gr.1 winners, Golden Mile and Major Beel. Gold Bullion carries the same trademark forelock made famous by his Dam sire, So You Think.

Trainer

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott have been in partnership since 2016. They have been a dominating force in the Australian thoroughbred industry ever since.

The story of Tulloch Lodge began in 1941 when TJ Smith, Gai’s father, received his training licence. During the next fifty years, Tulloch Lodge produced some of the best horses ever to run in Australia, including the legendary Kingston Town and Tulloch.

TJ became the most successful trainer of Group 1 winners in Australia, training a record 282 winners at the highest level, and receiving 33 consecutive trainers’ premierships. In 1992, TJ handed the reins to his daughter Gai, who has become a racing sensation in her own right and has steered Tulloch Lodge to new heights in the 21st century.  Following in her father’s footsteps, Gai has trained 160 Group 1 winners, including eight Golden Slippers. To date, Gai & Adrian have collectively trained 26 Group 1 winners.
