*** WHAT A FILLY! WHAT A PAGE! WHAT A STEAL! TORONADO FILLY WITH A BLUEBLOOD PEDIGREE TO BE TRAINED BY LLOYD KENNEWELL**
*** NEW SYNDICATION – 25% REMAINING ***
This filly hails from one of the best families in the Studbook. Her Dam, a winning half-sister to ZIZOU, has already produced 3 winners incl. Gr.3 winner, BIG PARADE who was 2nd in the Gr.1 Galaxy and placed at Gr.2, Gr.3 and Listed level.
Her “Blueblood” pedigree also boasts names like NOT A SINGLE DOUBT, ASAWIR, OOHOOD and the mighty breed shaper SNIPPETS. As far as type goes, she is an athlete. A very agile, co-ordinated yearling with a lovely loose purposeful walk.
She will be trained by Gr.1 winning trainer, Lloyd Kennewell. In only a very new partnership with Lloyd, it has already proven successful with ETERNAL WARRIOR winning a Stakes race on debut and now one of the favourites for next month’s Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stks.
Finally, let’s not forget the fact he’s by TORONADO. The fastest son of High Chaparral is one of those bombproof sires. His progeny are TOUGH and more often than not, CLASSY. So, get on board if you want to own a filly with great prospects on the track and genuine residual after racing.
Sire
TORONADO
The Oldsmobile Toronado was the first modern front-wheel drive car manufactured in the United States, and coincidentally, 2015 was both the 50th anniversary of the car and the year that Toronado (High Chaparral-Wana Doo, by Grand Slam) retired to stud as a dual Gr1 winner.
Fast forward eight years, and Toronado has sired five Gr1 winners among his 37 stakes winners. “All of Toronado’s current Australian success has been off service fees under $25,000 with his current yearlings the first to come from a $45,000 service fee,” said Swettenham’s General Manager of Operations and Nominations, Sam Matthews. “We feel this is quite a difference to most of Australia’s other leading stallions who have been supported at higher fees.”
Three of Toronado’s five Gr1 winners have won two of Australian sprint majors, being the William Reid Stakes, and the Galaxy Handicap.
Masked Crusader (Toronado-She’s Got Gears, by Invincible Spirit) won seven races and over $4.4million including the 2021 Gr1 William Reid Stakes. A tough campaigner, he first raced as three year-old winning three of his first four starts and was still racing in 2023 as six-year-old. Masked Crusader also placed in the Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes, Gr1 Canterbury Stakes and The Everest (second to Champion Sprinter Nature Strip).
Mariamia (Toronado-Quinta Lago, by Encosta de Lago) won eight races including the 2023 Gr1 Galaxy Handicap and over $1.2million. Winner on debut as a late two year-old, Mariamia is a tough race mare, running 39 times from 2019 to 2023. Toronado’s other winner of the Gr1 Galaxy Handicap is Shelby Sixtysix (Toronado-Storm Kite, by Honours List)

Trainer
LLOYD KENNEWELL

After completing his tertiary education at Pulteney Grammar in 2000, there was little doubt about the career that Lloyd Kennewell would pursue. He’d grown up around racehorses at his father Gary’s stables and was an odds on favourite to follow his dad into the racing game.
Having seen firsthand the growing level of professionalism needed to run a city stable, Lloyd embarked on a Business Management Course at TAFE SA and completed his studies with great commendation from his tutors which set him in great stead to run his own business.
In late 2003 Lloyd applied for his training licence and made history as the youngest recipient of a licence in South Australia at age 21. He trained his first winner soon after when Treasure Time scored at Cheltenham in February 2004.
After enjoying great success training out of Adelaide, including noteworthy wins in the 2017 Group One Winterbottom Stakes in Perth and the 2012 Group Two Adelaide Cup, Lloyd made the bold move to Melbourne in 2018 and set up his new full time base at Caulfield and just weeks after arriving the stable cemented their spot in the state with a Group One win in the 2018 Moir Stakes with Viddora.
One that has never been afraid of a challenge or to travel his horses whether it be in Australia or overseas, Lloyd decided to take on the world and Viddora raced on the biggest stage at the Dubai World Cup meeting in 2019, finishing fourth in the Group One Al Quoz Sprint. The star mare then raced in Hong Kong before being retired to stud. Prominent at all major sales both in Australia and overseas and with an eye for a yearling, a terrific winning record, and knowledge beyond his years, the future is bright for Lloyd Kennewell.
