Pat is a proud Bendigo local, husband, dad, son, brother, mate, and— and he’s facing the fight of his life.
Pat lives with his wife Chelsea, and their two beautiful kids Imogen and Jye.
In 2023 Pat was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) — a progressive, incurable disease that slowly takes away a person’s ability to move, speak, swallow and breathe… all whilst their mind stays strong and aware.
For Pat, MND means learning to live with constant change. For Chelsea, Imogen and Jye, it means walking beside someone they love while the road gets harder.
In Pat’s own words,…
“MND has affected my life in a way that has made everything difficult. It has made my ability to do simple things like opening jars, doing up buttons, and writing difficult, and whilst other tasks are achievable, they take more effort than they should, like brushing my teeth or using a knife and fork. All these tasks put a strain on my body and are slowly taking my Fine Motor Skills away in my hands and arms.
Fatigue is a major effect also, where if I overshoot the runway trying to live life normally and over-work my body, I get aches, pains, cramping, and a bone deep weariness that takes days to overcome. The pain that MND inflicts in winter is very difficult, as my body can’t regulate heat as it used to. Cold weather renders my hands pretty much useless with pain, stiffness and cramping. MND is slowly working from my hands to my arms and into my shoulders”

• family holidays and experiences, creating everlasting memories
• home changes to stay safe and independent
• financial pressure
This fundraiser is about ensuring Pat, and his family have what they need for the road ahead — with dignity, support, and time together as a family.
Standing alongside Pat are Jake and Sammy, who are best mates that have committed to 160 kilometres nonstop in support of this fundraiser. They know it will be tough but while Jake and Sammy can choose to stop at any moment…Pat can’t.
