Another impressive win by Sedanzer in the 1600m Mercedes-Benz Newcastle race yesterday and congratulations to the owners also on her first metropolitan win!
Rachel King rode Sedanzer very well, using good initiative in allowing her to settle towards the rear of the field with cover before bringing her out at the top of the straight and giving her every chance to let down strongly. Sedanzer showed a super turn of foot to run over the top of them and she beat some handy gallopers in doing so also.
Gai Waterhouse commented, “WOW! What a cracking win! She certainly has ability and a nice turn of foot. She was ridden beautifully by Rachel.”
Adrian Bott commented, “What a win from the filly today! She’s got plenty of ability as you have no doubt already seen, but we will certainly have fun with her.”
Sedanzer is set to head to Gai’s Melbourne stables in preparation for an Adelaide campaign with a lead up race in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Stakes on 22nd April leading to the Group 1 Australasian Oaks on 6th May.
