A STUNNING SPECIMEN BY THE SIRE OF TREASURE THE MOMENT!

We were thrilled to bits to have come away with this colt from the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale ‘26. He oozes quality.

Blessed with “movie star” looks and the physique to match, Sam Freedman was wrapt when he was given the horse to train with his Dad, Anthony.

Out of a Dundeel mare, with double Zabeeel in his pedigree and a relation to Dear Demi, one would suspect he isn’t the classic 2yo get up and go type of colt but to look at, he is very forward and we won’t be surprised to see him at the races early.

He’s very well priced at $1,845 per 2.5% share.

Sire

ALABAMA EXPRESS has made a rapid impact as /a young sire, building on a strong start with his two-year-olds and exceptional results from his first three-year-olds. Early winners such as Karavas and Shangri La Express
signalled his potential, while his first crop has been headlined by standout performers including triple Group 1 winner and Champion three-year-old elect Treasure the Moment, along with Alabama Lass. With 12 Stakes performers and a 16.2% strike rate, he also became the only Australian first-crop sire to surpass $1 million in progeny earnings before Christmas.

His commercial appeal has matched his racetrack success. Alabama Express topped first-season sire averages at the 2023 Inglis Premier Sale, with strong demand continuing through Magic Millions 2024 and into the 2025 sales season. Buyers, including leading trainers and bloodstock agents, have consistently paid up to $400,000 for his progeny, reflecting growing confidence in his ability to produce high-quality racehorses.

As a racehorse, Alabama Express was a Group 1 WFA winner of the C F Orr Stakes, demonstrating toughness and class against elite competition. By Redoute’s Choice, he was widely regarded as an outstanding physical type with a strong temperament and athleticism. Purchased for $280,000, he has carried those qualities into his stud career and is widely considered a stallion of significant long-term potential.

Dam

TRUSTEED – this is the first foal for unraced DUNDEEL mare TRUSTEED. She is out of a half sister to Gr.1 winner and 7 times Gr.1 placed, DEAR DEMI (pic below) who also won 5 times at Group or Listed level. She is the dam of Gr.2 winner, MOKULUA.

Trainer

SAM & ANTHONY FREEDMAN

The Freedman name is one of the most respected in Australian thoroughbred racing, and the partnership between Anthony and Sam Freedman continues that legacy while advancing it with a modern approach. Based at
Mornington and Pinecliff in Victoria, the father-and-son team combines decades of elite experience with
contemporary methods, establishing themselves as a leading force in the industry. Their operation reflects a
balance of tradition, innovation, and a clear focus on longterm performance.

Anthony Freedman built his reputation as part of the dominant Freedman Brothers era, contributing to champions such as Makybe Diva, Alinghi, and Miss Andretti before achieving Group 1 success in his own right. In 2019, Sam Freedman joined as co-trainer after gaining international experience in Europe and the United States. He brought a data-driven mindset, strong communication, and a natural ability with young horses, complementing Anthony’s strategic and patient training style.

Together, they have developed a disciplined, horse-first training system, particularly successful with elite juveniles and stayers. Their achievements include Group 1 wins with Artorius and Santa Ana Lane, as well as the historic 2023 Caulfield Cup–Melbourne Cup double with Without A Fight. Freedman Racing now stands as a modern powerhouse, combining legacy and innovation to consistently deliver results at the highest level.
