This GREAT VALUE Capitalist filly combines one of Australia’s leading commercial sires with a strong and proven New Zealand female family.
Her dam, Florent, was a metropolitan-class winner of three races and earned over $430,000, while the pedigree is reinforced by close relatives including Champion 3YO Filly and Australian Oaks winner El Patroness, Queensland Oaks winner Provocative, and multiple Group performer Surely Sacred.
The Capitalist–Fiorente cross offers an appealing blend of speed, athleticism and stamina, giving her the profile of a filly with both racing upside and long-term broodmare value.
She will be trained by Ciaron Maher, whose outstanding record with staying fillies and Oaks contenders makes this pedigree particularly appealing, as she appears well suited to develop into the type of filly that could thrive over classic distances as a three-year-old.
Sire
CAPITALIST
Capitalist was Australia’s Champion 2-Year-Old of his generation and has successfully translated that brilliance to
stud, establishing himself as one of the country’s leading commercial stallions. A winner of the Group 1 Golden Slipper, Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes, and Group 2 Breeders’ Plate, he earned over $3.6 million on the track and was renowned for his explosive speed, precocity and toughness.
At stud, Capitalist has sired more than 30 stakes winners, including Group 1 performers such as Captivant, Kalashnikov, Captured By Love, and Profiteer, producing horses that consistently show early maturity, athleticism and a strong will to compete. While best known as a source of speed and juvenile talent, his progeny have also trained on successfully at three and beyond, particularly when crossed with mares carrying stamina influences.
By leading sire Written Tycoon, Capitalist is one of the most commercially desirable stallions in Australia, with his progeny highly sought after by trainers, syndicators and buyers. His offspring are typically strong-bodied, athletic types that possess natural speed and the ability to compete at the highest level.
For this filly, the combination of Capitalist’s speed and class with the stamina-rich Fiorente female line creates an appealing balance, offering the prospect of a filly with enough early ability to be competitive as a juvenile while retaining the scope to develop into a quality three-year-old over longer distances.
Dam
FLORENT by Fiorente, was a talented and durable race mare who won three races and earned more than $430,000 in prizemoney. Racing consistently at metropolitan level, she was placed in the VOBIS Sires Guineas and finished fourth in the Group 2 The Roses, showcasing both class and stamina against quality opposition.
By Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente, Florent brings a strong staying influence to the pedigree and hails from one of New Zealand’s most productive black-type families.
She is closely related to Australian Oaks winner and Champion 3YO Filly El Patroness, Queensland Oaks winner Provocative, and multiple Group performer Surely Sacred, making her an exciting young broodmare with significant upside.
As a daughter of a proven classic family and a race mare who performed at a high level herself, Florent provides this filly with a strong foundation of toughness, stamina and residual broodmare value.
This is her 2 foal, her first is the Jack Bruce trained 2yo by Exceed and Excel called Podgorica who performed nicely recently in his frst ever trial.

At the forefront of Australian thoroughbred racing stands Ciaron Maher, one of the sport’s most accomplished and progressive trainers. As principal of Ciaron Maher Racing, he leads one of the nation’s largest and most versatile operations, renowned for success with both precocious juveniles and elite stayers. Raised on a dairy farm in country Victoria and shaped by an early career as a jumps jockey, Maher developed a deep, practical understanding of horses that underpins his holistic, horse-first training philosophy.
After gaining his trainer’s licence in the early 2000s, Maher quickly earned attention from his Warrnambool base for his ability to rejuvenate older horses and develop young talent. Early standouts such as Sertorius and Set Square paved the way for his breakthrough Group 1 success with Jameka in the 2016 Caulfield Cup. Known for blending traditional horsemanship with innovative methods like swimming, beach work, and recovery-focused conditioning, Maher established a reputation as a trainer unafraid to challenge convention.
From 2018 to 2023, his partnership with David Eustace formed a dominant force in Australian racing, producing stars including Coolangatta, Hitotsu, and Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip. Following Eustace’s departure, Maher expanded into a national, multi-state operation with training centres across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland.
