Fernao In Listed Race, Brave In Defeat Once Again.

Ultra-consistent stayer Fernao is doing our colours proud despite having run 2nd at his last 4 outings.

The Irish import, a son of the mighty Frankel was identified by our Bloodstock Expert Stefan Pardi as a genuine top notch racehorse who would get better with more racing as proven him correct.

Trained by Annabel & Rob Archibald, the Northern Hemisphere hemisphere bred is technically 7yo but is building to the peak of his powers right now.

He put the writing on the wall with a breakout 2025 Autumn which saw him put away 2 metro staying races in Melbourne and in actual fact, almost made it 3 in a row after a nose 2nd at Flemington. This culminated in with an impressive and rapidly closing placing in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes over $2,800.

After a nice break then a couple of cameos, his return to the track has seen him pick up where he left off in the Autumn.

His last 4 runs have frustratingly seen him have to settle as runner-up on each occasion however his best was his run today in Listed company of 2400m. He conceded plenty of ground to eventual winner, So You Are who enjoyed the sweet run stalking the leader while Fernao was back at the rear.

He worked home bravely, carving out the best closing sectionals but just ran out of ground.

So strong was he visibly though the line, he showed not only he is capable around this distance range but will be suited to even further.

Annabel has two Group 3 races earmarked for him in a couple of weeks time which if the cards fall our way in the way the race is run, he will go very close to adding another win to his tally of 4 fro 3o starts, nine of those 2nds!

The run continues our fantastic foray into the new Racing Season.
