**GHAIYYATH HAS SIRED THE TOP LOTS AT INGLIS CLASSIC AND KARAKA AND IT’S NO WONDER WHY!!!!**
READY TO BREAK IN VERY SOON
We were incredibly happy to have come away with our first yearling by Ghaiyyath at the recent Inglis Premier Sale.
Ghaiyyath has created a massive stir in the industry. He has produced the “Sales Topper” at the recent Inglis Classic Sale as well as at Karaka in NZ. That would no doubt be on the back of the Darley shuttler’s huge success from just a small sample size (36 starters).
His poster boy, OBSERVER has won twice at Gr.1 and Gr.2 level to date and he’s produced 3 other Stakes winners as well.
This colt to be trained by the astute horseman, Clinton McDonald is one stunning individual. What would you expect being out of a So You Think mare?
Purchased in conjunction with Bloodstock legend Shane McGrath (who selected and bought Farnan, Mo’Unga, Anders, Prague, Dubious, Ellsberg, Hayasugi, Streisand etc) the colt has a bit of scope about him and though unlikely to be an early 2yo proposition, look out when he gets to his 3 year old year! He has Guineas written all over him!
At the moment, Ghaiyyath’s progeny are not easy to buy due to him not shuttling to Australia last year so this makes the purchase even sweeter.
Sire
GHAIYYATH
Four-time Group 1-winning stallion, Ghaiyyath, crowned Cartier Horse of the Year and Longines World Best Racehorse, has become a hot sire, bursting to prominence last spring in Melbourne with his first four stakes winners in the space of a few weeks.
Capped by the Gr.1 VRC Derby triumph of Ciaron Maher and Godolphin’s Observer, the quartet gave the four-time Group 1-winning stallion an 11.11 per cent stakes winners to runners ratio in Australia from just 36 starters. He also faces the near certainty of a return to Australia this spring after a year off the shuttle, and with a huge fee rise from his 2024 mark of $27,500.
His other Stakes winners so far are FREEDOM FLAME, YUM and DIFFERENT GRAVY.
Dam
S’IL TE PLAIT – Translating to “please” in French, S’IL TE PLAIT by champion So You Think was unraced. She is out of the Danehill mare, EMAIL ME making her a half sister to Group winner and Gr.1 placed, LATIN NEWS and hails from the family of the breed shaping, MARAUDUNG. This is her first foal.
Trainer
CLINTON MCDONALD

Clinton McDonald is a multiple Group One winning Trainer based at the Cranbourne Training Centre, continuing one of Australia’s most respected racing dynasties. He is the son of trainer Ross McDonald, grandson of Bon Hoysted, and great-grandson of legendary horseman Fred Hoysted, and grew up immersed in the racing industry.
McDonald began training in his own right in 2000, recording his first winner with Kirabati in 2001, and has since developed a highly successful stable that regularly competes at metropolitan and Group level. Among his early headline performers was Regal Roller, a multiple Group 1 winner whose victories in races such as the Futurity Stakes, Toorak Handicap and Emirates Stakes established McDonald as a trainer capable of producing elite racehorses.
In recent years he has gained particular recognition for his success with two-year-olds, highlighted by victories in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, Australia’s premier juvenile race. McDonald won the race in 2024 with outstanding filly Hayasugi, who completed the rare Preview–Prelude–Blue Diamond treble, and again in 2026 with talented filly Streisand, cementing his reputation as one of Australia’s leading trainers of young horses. Training from Cranbourne, McDonald continues to prepare a strong team of horses for major races across Australia while carrying forward a proud family legacy in the sport.
