About the trainer

Three generations of the Hayes name, one of Australia's great racing dynasties.

"Tradition, with a cutting edge."

Ben, Will & JD Hayes are the third generation to train at Lindsay Park — sons of Hall of Fame trainer David Hayes and grandsons of the legendary Colin Hayes, who founded the operation in 1965 and made the Hayes name synonymous with the winner's stall.

Ben has led the training partnership since 2016, bringing international polish from stints with Charlie Hills at Lambourn and John Gosden at Newmarket. Twin brother JD joined the licence in 2021 after years of hands-on stable work, and former AFL footballer Will completed the trio on 1 August 2023 — making it a genuine three-brother partnership.

Operating from the historic Lindsay Park property near Euroa and a metropolitan base at Flemington, the brothers have already added 12 Group 1s of their own — most of them powered by stable favourite Mr Brightside, now Lindsay Park's most successful top-flight winner of all time.

Can I visit the stable and meet the Hayes team?

Yes — all BBT owners are invited to stable visits. Race-day hospitality is included for major meetings.

What are the ongoing costs?

Training fees are charged monthly based on your share. We disclose all costs upfront in the prospectus before you commit.

How long until my horse races?

Yearlings typically debut at 2 or 3. the Hayes team is patient — we'd rather wait six weeks than rush a juvenile to its first start.
