A Group 1 winning trainer with a sharp eye for a sprinter. Licensed at just 21 as the youngest trainer in South Australia, Lloyd built his name with dual-Group 1 mare Viddora — the kind of horsemanship and judgement you want behind your next horse.
Lloyd Kennewell is a Group 1 winning trainer best known for the dual-Group 1 sprinting mare Viddora, with a record built on patience, placement and a keen judgement of a fast horse.
Raised around his father Gary's stables, Lloyd took out his licence in late 2003 at just 21 — the youngest trainer in South Australia — and trained his first winner, Treasure Time, in February 2004. He soon became a fixture in the South Australian top ten, landing the Group 2 Adelaide Cup in 2012 before his first major at the elite level.
Viddora delivered Lloyd's breakthrough Group 1 in the 2017 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot, and weeks after the stable relocated to Melbourne she added the 2018 Moir Stakes at The Valley. The mare went on to race internationally, running fourth in the 2019 Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai. Today Lloyd trains from a base at the stable in Victoria.
