Latest Update – Nov 20th – Gai and Adrian
“Farnan/Waterloo Sunset ‘22 is working well and on Tuesday morning he galloped over 600 metres on the B-grass alongside stablemate Justify/Yolanda ‘22. Ridden by jockey Louis Beuzelin, he clocked 11.3 seconds over the final 200 metres and Louis said, “That was very nice work and he’s in great shape.” We are delighted with your colt, and he continues to work very well. He’s ready to trial once he is named and we will keep you updated with his progress.then it should be off to the races for a late Spring / Summer debut.”
NOTE: Farnan has hit the ground running… his son, North England, scored a Gr.3 placing at Randwick and he’s now backed that up with a Gr.3 victory in the $1m Inglis Golden Gift.
Information
This breathtaking colt by FARNAN was purchased from the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. This is a classy colt with a Stallion’s pedigree.
His half-brother, Sunsets by Dundeel is a stayer who has a Gr3 to his name so far, claiming the scalp of Riff Rocket in the Norman Robinson. He then went on to place in the Gr1 Victoria Derby behind Riff Rocket but will get his chance to capture that Gr.1 victory in Adelaide next month.
This Farnan colt was knocked down to Gai & Adrian who absolutely loved him and they didn’t have to twist our arm too hard to convince us to take him on board. He is not cheap but quality such as this rarely is. Our mission is to create a Stallion of the future, so if all goes according to plan, the pay day will come.
Gai and Adrian trained his Dad to win a Golden Slipper so no doubt he is definitely in the right hands.
Our colt passed 100% on his x-rays and clinical examination and was rated as low risk and suitable for thoroughbred syndicates and syndication.

Winner of five races at two, four at stakes level with a career earnings of $2.5 million. He dominantly won the 2020 Golden Slipper with a time of 1:10.19.

Trainer
Gai & Adrian have gone on to achieve as much as humanly possible with racehorses. While many would rest on their laurels after such success, Gai simply wants to win more and more. Owners can rest assured that the Lady Trainer wants to win races just as much if not more than they do! Confirmation of this dedication to excellence came after just fifteen years of training when Gai was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame (2007). As we stand, in just over 20 years of training, Gai has amassed over 135 Group One wins and currently sits third on the all-time list (Group One winners) behind T.J. Smith and Bart Cummings.
By far Gai’s greatest achievements have been recorded in the best races of the year in both Melbourne and Sydney. Gai has won Sydney’s two best races, the Golden Slipper and Doncaster Handicap seven times respectively. Gai is by far the most successful trainer ever in the Sydney Spring. ‘Make hay while the sun shines’ is a phrase one often can hear Gai quoting. This attitude is reflected by Gai’s results in the best races contested during the Sydney Spring Carnival. The Flight Stakes (7 wins), the Epsom Handicap (7 wins) and the Metropolitan Handicap (8 wins) have become races at the mercy of Gai each and every year.
Gai & Adrian give each and every horse that comes into their care every possible chance to succeed. Only six horses in the history of Sydney racing have won the two-year-old Triple Crown and Gai has trained two of them (Dance Hero 2004 and Pierro 2012). Gai in fact has won more Group One races for two-year-olds than any other trainer.
Gai Waterhouse along with Adrian Bott, has had 2293 winners to date with a great career strike rate of 19.4% including 158 Group 1 winners and 8 Golden Slippers. In the past decade, the pair have made more than $181 million in prizemoney.
