Blueblood Thoroughbreds is proud to offer shares in this exciting Hanseatic x Wanaasa two year- old colt, trained by Ben, Will & JD Hayes at Lindsay Park.
There is plenty to like about this colt, both physically and on pedigree. He is by Hanseatic, one of the fastest juveniles of his generation, from a daughter of champion sire I Am Invincible. That gives him a pedigree packed with natural speed and precocity — exactly the attributes you want to see in a young horse with early two-year-old aspirations.
Importantly, he has also continued to make a very good impression through his early education.
The Hayes team have been pleased with the colt from the outset and believe he has developed significantly during his break. His next preparation will give them the opportunity to step his work up and determine
whether he is ready to target the early two-year-old races.
With a proven juvenile sire, an I Am Invincible mare and one of Australia’s most successful training operations behind him, this is an exciting opportunity to race a colt bred for speed.
Sire
HANSEATIC was an exceptionally fast two-year-old.
A son of leading international sire Street Boss, Hanseatic won his first three starts as a juvenile, including the Gr.3 Blue Diamond Prelude, before producing an outstanding
performance to finish second in the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
That record demonstrated exactly what breeders look for in a stallion — natural speed, precocity and the ability to perform at elite level as a two-year-old.
He is also a half-brother to Group 1 winner Austmarr, adding further quality to his pedigree.
Hanseatic’s oldest progeny are now three-year-olds and he has already produced a growing list of talented performers, including stakes horses Befuddle, Rohesia and Bermondsey.
This colt has every opportunity to inherit the speed and early-running ability that made his sire such an exciting juvenile.
Dam
WANAASA is a winning daughter of champion stallion I Am Invincible, one of the most influential speed sires in Australian racing.
She won over 1000 metres, reinforcing the speed running through this pedigree.
Importantly, Wanaasa has already produced a winner. Her first foal to race, Articulating, is a two-time winner over 1100 metres and 1200 metres.
There is also considerable depth further down the female family.
The second dam Jalsah was a five-time winner and stakes performer, while the family includes high-class sprinter
Faatinah, a nine-time winner of more than $1.3 million whose victories included the Gr.2 Bobbie Lewis Quality, Gr.2 Euclase Stakes and Gr.2 Ian McEwen Stakes.
This is a pedigree built around speed, with Hanseatic, Street Boss and I Am Invincible all contributing proven
sprinting and juvenile quality.

The Hayes name is synonymous with success in Australian racing, and the latest generation of the famous Lindsay Park operation continues that tradition through Ben, Will and JD Hayes.
Based at Lindsay Park, the brothers have quickly established themselves among Australia’s leading training partnerships, combining the experience and systems developed over generations with a modern approach to preparing young racehorses.
The stable has access to outstanding facilities and has demonstrated an ability to develop horses from their earliest education through to success at the highest level.
For owners, one of the great strengths of Lindsay Park is the depth of the operation and its ability to give young horses the time and environment they need to develop.
This colt has already spent time with the stable and will return to Lindsay Park following his current pre-training preparation.
Nominations and Bonuses
This colt is paid up for Vobis Silver and Racing Rewards SA, the $5 million Golden Slipper, $1 million Golden Rose, $2 million Blue Diamond, $200,000 Blue Sapphire and has been nominated for the Inglis Race Series.
Costings
Share Price Includes – Purchase Price, X-Rays & Clinical Examination, Scoping, Race Series Nomination and Mortality Insurance is covered up to the 31st March 2027.
The breaking-in fee and any other general related costs are not included in the share price. Any costs associated with nominations for VOBIS, Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper have also not been included in the share price. These fees and charges will be invoiced separately on your monthly invoice, in due course.
Ongoing Expenses and MMF: The Ongoing Expenses consist of a $77 flat Monthly Management Fee (MMF) per owner, regardless of share percentage. The remainder of the fees are the Ongoing Expenses for the horse billed monthly, in arrears, which are split between the owners based on their percentage held. The following are estimated total monthly costs based on averages, as the Ongoing Expenses for the horse do vary depending on the current whereabouts of the horse i.e. training, spelling etc. The following amounts include both the $77 MMF and the average Ongoing Expenses combined:
- 2.5% – $162 estimated total monthly cost
- 5% – $247 estimated total monthly cost
- 10% – $417 estimated total monthly cost
Your first monthly fee will due on the 28th October 26 (or the next business day if the 28th falls on a weekend or public holiday).
