Spectacular to look at, he’s a robust colt from the family of Makybe Diva. With her stamina in the bloodline and Capitalist’s speed, who knows what this guy could become!

He comes of a fantastic farm, Silverdale, who bred and consigned Group 1 Golden Slipper and Group 1 Sires Produce star, Fireburn.

Apart from the KAIZAD/Capitalist link, Mick Price was very keen to make sure we got this colt and hopefully we can continue our Gr.1 success with him. He trained Secret Agenda and Seabrook to win at the top level for us.

Our colt passed on his scope, x-rays and clinical examination and was rated as low risk.

CAPITALIST  4 wins at 2. Champion 2yo colt in Australia 2015-216. The highest earner of two-year-old prizemoney ever over $3.5 million. Winner of the Sire Making Group 1 Golden Slipper. The first colt to ever win the Breeders’ Plate, Magic Millions and Golden Slipper. Sire of the 2021 Millennium with Profiteer

“Capitalist was the best two-year-old I’ve ever ridden, in the Breeders’ Plate it was like driving a Rolls-Royce. He was breathtaking in the Magic Millions and outstanding against a top-class field in the Golden Slipper.” – Jockey Blake Shinn

“Capitalist was just the perfect two-year-old, blessed with a huge amount of precocity, and ability.”- Co-Trainer Peter Snowden

Capitalist was officially retired to stud at Newgate Farm in November 2016, having chipped a fetlock in training. Manager there, Henry Field, said, “Australia is all about two-year-old racing, and to have a champion two-year-old standing at Newgate is what everyone strives for. Capitalist is the embodiment of what works in Australia – he will be heavily supported by his group of owners.”

Kentucky Diva is by one of the world’s highest rated sires, FASTNET ROCK and out of the Group winning mare, VALKYRIE DIVA . Kentucky Diva had 2 wins at 1600m and 2100m. This is her second foal. Her first foal is a 2YO.

Kentucky Diva is closely related to champion Australian Thoroughbred racehorse, MAKYBE DIVA, who is the only horse to win three Melbourne Cups and the only mare to win it more than once.

Mick Price gained his license in 1991 and while he enjoyed some early success the big move came in 1996 when he moved into stables at Caulfield that Lee Freedman had previously operated from. The move to Caulfield saw Price move from a bit part to a big player in the Victorian training ranks. He is now firmly established in the top echelon of trainers not only in Victoria but Australia.

Mick Price has prepared more than 100 winners a season for the past 10 seasons, a position that puts him in rare company. Mick Price has enjoyed abundance of success with 44 Group 1 wins and more than 3000 career wins.

Mick Price has a fantastic record with two-year-olds and has produced several stallions including Extreme Choice and Flying Artie which commenced stud duties in the 2017 season.

Mick Price’s notable Group one success SEABROOK – Blueblood Thoroughbreds (Champagne Stakes), SECRET AGENDA – Blueblood Thoroughbreds (Robert Sangster Stakes), LANKAN RUPEE (Lightning Stakes, Manikato Stakes, TJ Smith Stakes, Newmarket Handicap, Oakleigh Plate), TARZINO (Victoria Derby, Rosehill Guineas) GRUNT (Makybe Stakes, Australian Guineas), MIGHTY BOSS (Caulfield Guineas), HIYAAM (Vinery Stud Stakes)and PROFITEER (Capitalist)

The Capitalist colt has arrived safely to Sam Fasher’s property in the Hawkesbury today, ready to commence being broken in.

This of course will be his first preparation towards his career ahead of becoming a racehorse. He is in outstanding hands with Sam who is a champion eventer and show jumper. Sam has broken in plenty of horses, and the finished product is a well-mannered and well-educated young horse.

The process of breaking in a horse is to desensitise them, familiarise them with wearing a saddle and gear, be mouthed, be ridden and to adapt to the rider’s instructions. The colt will also go through the barriers so he can familiarise himself with that important aspect of going to the races. This new start to racing life can sometimes be a little stressful for a young horse but he is in good hands with Sam who will always put the colt’s well-being first.

The breaking in process usually takes around 30 days or so to complete and we will continue to update you on his progress each fortnight.
