LIGHTSABER TO KICK OFF SPRING CAMPAIGN IN SATURDAY’S GRP 3 VAIN STAKES

Blueblood Thoroughbreds’ current flagbearer Lightsaber returns to the races this Saturday at Caulfield in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m). Regular jockey Luke Nolan remains in the driver’s seat as the pair look to increase their winning partnership throughout the upcoming Spring carnival.

The 3yo Zoustar entire put his name up in lights when stringing three wins together in the Autumn, capped off by a strong win in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m). He looks primed for a nice Spring preparation ahead which the team at Bluebloods are eagerly anticipating.

“It’s great to see him back at the races and we’re all very excited of course.” commented Racing Manager David Mourad.

“He might find the 1100m a bit sharp first up, but it’s a nice starting point for him. It’s not his grand finale, so we won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t win on Saturday.”

“It’s not to say he won’t run well, but whatever he does, he will have good improvement to come and will appreciate getting over a little further.” David continued.

“The Caulfield Guineas has been earmarked as his main target this Spring, so he will be ready to peak come early October.”

Lightsaber is trained by Champion trainer Peter Moody and was a $100,000 purchase from the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale in 2020.

He has won 3 races from 5 starts, earning his connections just shy of $250,000 already. Good luck to all involved in Lightsaber on Saturday!
